My women's group has been together for 9 years now. Last weekend we had our summer all-family shindig down at my friend Bussy's farm near Rochester, WA. The picture below is most of us minus Kara, her husband and their 2 kids. When we started meeting 9 years ago none of us had kids. Now there are 10 kids and 2 on the way. Both Jessica and I are pregnant with our firsts. It's been wonderful to have this consistent group of friends in my life!

Oly Miller Visit 2013
In August, Eric's entire east coast family came to visit us in Olympia. This included dad Dave and girlfriend Karen, Aunt Betsy and Barbara, and sister Betsy and husband Colin. It was a great time and pretty jam-packed with fun local outings. What a special treat to have them all out here on the west coast!
Barb and Aunt Betsy relaxing in our summer front yard.
Brother and sister (dad in the background) with the pups.
Barb scored mega points with the Millers when she brought Voodoo donuts back from her day trip to Portland to visit her family.
The Miller clan enjoying dinner on our back deck. We all also had a very nice dinner my Mom and Doug at Trinacria one evening, but I don't have any pictures of it to post.
Me and Aunt Betsy.
We rented a pontoon boat and cruised the south Salish Sea. We went around Squaxin Island and stopped at Boston Harbor for a rest and refreshments.
The amazing view of Mt. Raineir that almost sunk the boat!
Besty and Colin enjoying the view from the bow with Captain Eric at the helm.
We took the crew to the "New Old Time Chautaqua" Vaudville show at the Capital Theatre. Everyone had a blast and some were even brought to tears with laughter! It was a surprising hit with the Millers.
Mariners baseball game at Safeco Field. We had great seats along the first base line and the weather was spectacular. Plus, the M's won against the Toronto Bluejays 9-7. We had dinner at Pyramind Alehouse.
The Miller men: Dave and Eric. We miss you Pop-Pop.
Dinner with neighbors Jeff and Merey on our back deck when Betsy and Colin first got into town.
It was a Northwest feast with fresh salmon and oysters. But, of course!
Betsy and Colin got some paddle time. These pictures are from Boston Harbor.
Colin did very well for his first time paddling, but did take a dip after he tried some more advanced moves on his board.

Orcas Baby Shower
During our visit to Orcas Island, Kira and Ronna threw me a lovely baby shower. It was really special.
Kira made this amazing fruit baby! She also organized the games for the shower. I received many wonderful gifts from Ronna's friends. Thanks so much!!!
Orcas Island Summer Visit 2013
In mid-July we went up to Orcas Island to visit my sister Ronna and her family. The weather was amazing and it was a short but very good visit. This was Javi's first visit to Orcas and we all did well managing multiple dogs, cats, and chickens without incident. Hopefully Ronna does some blog posting of our visit as well as she also took some nice photos.
Grant and Ben hanging out at Cascade Lake while Ronna, Eric, and the kids did some stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking on the lake.
The dogs had fun too.

Eric had a chance to get out on some beautiful solo paddles in the Salish Sea.

Eric took the dogs on a hike to the top of Mount Constitution.
We went on a nice hike with the dogs around Cascade Lake. Ahhhh...Sisters.
Beautiful Kira.
Everyone chillin' in the pool.

Beat the Heat - 5 Beach trip
In late June the northwest had a small heat wave with temperatures around the Puget Sound getting up into the 90's. We decided to beat the heat with a trip to the coast where temperatures were in the low 70's. We always wanted to check out La Push, so we packed our bags for a long weekend. We stayed in Forks, and old recessed timber town recently brought to fame by the Twilight books. The La Push beaches are just a short drive from Forks. We ended up spending time at 5 different beaches and the dogs were able to go to 4 of them (all except second beach). This was probably Javi's first trip to the ocean. We all had a fabulous time on our short trip. I love the Washington coast!
Kalaloch Creek and beach.
Bella Swan's truck from the Twilight movies. Okay, yes, we did check out some of the movie-related stuff while we were in Forks.
First Beach at La Push.
Carmen with her dried "Kelpy Man" (bull kelp). The dogs loved this stuff. We call it "beach leather".
We had one of those perfect sunny, but not too warm days at Rialto beach. The ocean felt surprisingly warm for Washington.
Everyone that reads this blog probably knows that I'm with child, but in case you didn't: surprise!
Javi with his beach leather Kelpy Man.
Ahhh...amazing views and sunset at second beach.
Ruby beach.
One last stop at Kalaloch on the way back home. Thank you Washington Beaches!
